Toothpaste & Commercial Promotion:

The toothpaste is a daily use item in the modern days by all the families and is manufactured by multinational companies to make use of the brand image and the trust people have. The toothpaste is promoted on TV media commercial viewing as well as print media ads. There are famous film world super star personalities acting as brand ambassador to influence the choice of the consumer by their message beamed 24 hours a day and 7 days of the week.

The toothpaste formulations contain basically same ingredients with change in the colour and flavour the common ingredients are listed below:

  1. Abrasive: it includes an abrasive with different degree of fineness to remove the stains and plaque deposited on the teeth, which get lighter in colouration with continued use.
  2. Detergent: Sodium Laureal Sulphate is used as detergent, to make foam in the oral cavity. The food particles and dirt which gets removed by brushing action float on the surface of the foam and are thrown out by spitting and finally rinsing with water.
  3. Thickener agent: it is used to make the contents in a homogenous form and comes out from the collapsible tube in semisolid form and does not drip.
  4. Flavouring agent: It is strong fruity or with mint tinge for freshness to woo the user.
  5. Sweetener: Saccharine is used as an artificial sweetener to mask the unpalatable taste of the detergents etc.

Mouthwash is used to provide additional antibacterial action in the oral cavity besides removing or masking the bad breath originating from the oral cavity. It contains anti-bacterial, sweetener and flavouring agents in alcoholic base.

Electric toothbrush: it is an electronic device containing a miniature motor with 12 volts rechargeable cell having detachable tooth brush head for different functions or easy replacement on wearing out. The electronic components are in a sealed water tight compartment keeping in view safety and long duration use of the device.
